Later!

We are off to the Outer Banks! We driving down...which would be easier if Sassy wasn't popping a molar and didn't want to be held all the time. We are looking forward to a nice, relaxing vacation (minus the drive) with the Momma's side of the family on the beach. North Carolina or Bust!

Helping...

Shoe Shopping

Now that Sass is an official walker, we needed to do some shoe shopping. We set out for Stride Rite. The sales lady reported that Leah can curl her toes with the best of them! Unfortunatly, the shoes I wanted for her were all sold out. So, we bought her some sunglasses and I ordered them online. They came in record time. We love Stride Rite!
Here is Daddy holding me as the sales lady tried to get on my shoe. I am not sure what to think. Mommy said the shoe they were trying to get on me was ugly, and I was right not to allow it.

New Shoes in Action

Leah isn't sure what to think about her new shoes. She enjoys eating them, but finds they make walking a little more difficult. Here she is on our way to Auntie Nicole's birthday dinner at Comparis.

I love Brain! After Momma and Dadda, he's my bestest friend.

Sand and Water Table

Grandma and Grandpa L will be visiting with us for a few days before leaving for North Carolina. They asked what they could get Sassy for her first birthday. I recommended a Sand and Water Table. They thought it was a great recommendation. It came on Tuesday and we've been playing with it ever since. Leah cannot get enough of it!

So far we're only using water in the table. I ordered "safe sand" from Amazon; it should be here shortly. Evidently, some play sand can be quite dangerous for developing babies. In doing research I became convinced to only use safe sand for the table.

Lessons Learned

After having the sand and water table for a few days, we've learned some new things.1. Sassy can play for up to an hour, so use sunscreen!
2. Clothes get wet, so play in a diaper and hat or headband.

3. Sometimes diapers are cumbersome.

Picking Flowers

"Momma, I picked a flower!" "First I will smell it"

"Next I will walk it over to you!"
I am trying to discourage Sassy from picking flowers from the patio pots, but how harsh can I be? It's so cute!

Please Identify

Yesterday Sassy and I observed the most curious creature in our butterfly bush. It looked like a cross between a crayfish, a hummingbird, and a bee. Does anyone know what it is?

If you think I'm sexy...

Here she comes, walking down the street...

Leah is a master walker now. C and I have seen her take close to 20 steps in a row. C is most impressed that she is attempting, and is sometimes successful with, making turns. I can hardly believe that she is the little bitty baby I gave birth to last August.

A Traveling All-Star

Leah was a great traveler (again). She was great on the airplanes! We had fun spending time with Grandma and Grandpa, though we both greatly missed Dada (she asked about him everyday).

My First Wine Tasting

At Lynmare for Leah's first official wine tasting. She had fun playing while the adults tasted some wine.

Fun Things about California

1. Sitting in Mommy's old highchair everyday. 2. Practicing my walking.
3. Letting Mommy try to get pictures of me on Grandma's sheepskin rug. Momma took off my diaper for an au natural picture and I prompty peed on the rug.

4. Trying to find sea lions

5. Playing on whale bones.
