Leah is really into Baby Sissy now. She will ask for me to take their picture. She can't wait until Juliet grows up. She keeps saying things like, "When Juliet grows up, and has teeth, I can teach her to walk and she will play with me!" Sassy is really into Juliet getting teeth. It is fun to watch their bond deepen. I love these little girls SO much!

Sassy Mae
Sassy Mae,
You are almost 3 years old. I'm sorry I didn't do monthly updates for you when you were a baby. If it's any consolation, Jelly Belly doesn't even have a baby book yet. I had begun yours when you were still in the belly. I promise to do a Sassy update each time I do a Jelly Boo update though.
This was quite the month for you. For the first time since you were 6 months old, you let Daddy put you to bed all by himself. Now Daddy and I alternate nights. It is bittersweet to watch you go to sleep with Daddy. With all the changes of the past month, you are having some trouble settling down at night. Unfortunately, it takes you (on average) 30 minutes to fall asleep each night. You were sleeping through the night almost half the time, but you have regressed to waking up 2-3 times each night. I know it's a phase, and it's because of all your life changes, and will (hopefully) be short lived, but it is still exhausting!
You are now potty trained! Something clicked for you last week. You were sitting on the potty before bed and whining. I told you, if you go pee pee on the potty, you can come cuddle in the white bed. If not, we will sit in the chair and read books, then go to bed. You looked at me and asked, "and watch a Barney in bed?" I said sure, and you peed. You haven't looked back since. Sometimes you need to be reminded to go potty, but for the most part you do it on your own. You haven't had any accidents since the breakthrough. You are so proud to pee, wipe yourself, and wash your hands.
This was also the month that you stopped calling yourself "baby". Daddy and I were trying to break the habit for a long time, but you refused to stop. This month you finally did. You know call yourself: me, I, Leah, or Sassy. I like when you call yourself Sassy.
You have learned some new tricks, too. You can spell "Leah" and "stop" by yourself. You know the letter sounds: B, S, L, J, M, and D consistently. You love to count, and can usually count to 30 correctly.
You are still a cuddle bug. You love to cuddle in the morning, before and after nap, and before bed. You always ask, "sit by me?" throughout the day. Then you ask, "I rub you?" You love to rub skin. You love to cuddle the animals, too. We frequently see you attack them into a big bear hug and say things like, "Brain, you're my boy!" and "Ruggie is a good boy dog!" Speaking of boys, you are really into classifying things as a boy or as a girl. I will hear you talking to yourself saying, "Mommy is a girl, Juliet is a girl, Sassy is a girl, Daddy is a boy, Brain is a boy...."
We looked at a school for you this month. You will begin going to school 2 days a week in the Fall. You get a little anxious when we talk about it, but I know that you will love it. You have gotten much more social and truly enjoy the company of others now. You like to be on the go. It is difficult with Juliet, but we are making it work.
Daddy and I love you so much!
Juliet Renee--Happy 2 Months!
Jelly Bean,
You are two months old! I remember writing your one month post and being very....tired. I think we have determined that you do have a dairy intolerance. You are much happier now that I have eliminated dairy, and I am much less tired. I tried to have a piece of cheese on my sandwich for a few days, and we definitely noticed a difference. So, no dairy for Mommy. It is a small price to pay. Without an upset belly, you are the happiest baby. I can almost always make you smile. You love to wake up after Leah has gone to sleep and pretend to be an only child. You soak in the attention and laugh and smile. You really seem to like to coo. Daddy and I love hearing you try to talk. I think you will be an expert talker, like your big sissy. You are always easy to get to sleep when Leah isn't in the mix.
You still love, love, love to be held. You don't like getting put down. Sometimes I can buy myself a half hour or so in the morning after you have fallen asleep, and another 20 minutes or so in the afternoon. That is not a certainty, though. There are many days that you don't allow this to happen. You do have an older sister, who occasionally needs the two arms of her mother. You do not enjoy when this happens. You make sure to glare at me when I pick you back up. Like clockwork you wake up at 6:00 every morning and insist on sleeping on my chest. You throw your head up until it is *right* under my chin. You will sleep another 2-3 hours on my chest. You still have a fussy spell in the evenings. To remedy this, I put you in the Moby wrap or we go for a walk outside. You love to be outside.
This is also the month where you have learned to take a nuk. Only Tomee Tipee nuks will do. You are very particular. You have tried a bottle a few times this month when left with babysitters. You did take an ounce for Auntie Renee this Friday, but preferred to wait until Momma got home to really eat.
You hate the car! You cry and cry in the backseat almost every time we try to take you somewhere. I wanted to go to Laurel Park earlier this week. We made it 2 miles before I made Daddy pull over at a park. We let Leah play and got you out of your carseat. You were grateful. You used to hate your bath, but now you enjoy it. You kick and splash, which makes Leah (the bath "helper") laugh hysterically. You get a really proud look on your face when you are making a mess in the tub.
You still have an episode of projectile vomiting every few days. Knock on wood, it's been almost a week since your last spell, so maybe you are outgrowing it.
Happy 2 Months, Baby Girl! We love you!
Our Future's so Bright...We've got to Wear Shades
I love how Juliet is cross-eyed in the glasses. When I took the picture below, Chris asked me if I was going to make a coffee table book of the girls dressed alike. I liked the idea immediately.

Potty Training...
Sassy,
We began potty training on the 4th of July. We said that we were going to declare our independence from diapers. On the first day, you had 2 small accidents. With lots of coaching and tears, you finally went pee pee on the potty around 4:00 pm. The next day you went pee pee on the potty twice, and had no accidents. You are a rule follower, and understand that it is "against the rules" to pee or poop in your underwear. You tell me that you are "staying dry". You can keep in your pee for several hours (6 or more). However, you are a total tart when it comes to actually using the potty. You don't usually tell me you need to use the potty. Instead you stand and anxiously call, "MOMMY!" You sit on it anywhere from 30-60 minutes before you do anything. You've needed cheering and coaching to pee. When your body finally allows you to pee you scream loudly and cry anxiously. Even though you've been rewarded greatly for using the potty, you still fight the urge to pee. Today was the first day you tried to poop on the potty. You didn't quite make it. Today is the third day, second no (pee) accident day. We are all very tired. We have our fingers crossed that it will get easier in the coming days. We know you can do it!

Fireworks!
Aunt Nicole invited us to her new house to watch the fireworks. She had a great Mexican spread to enjoy as well. Sassy had fun chasing her kitties and playing with her cousins. I enjoyed a margarita and a nice walk. Juliet was awake almost the entire visit, surveying the new environment. I could only get her to nap when I strapped her to me in the Moby (in the 85 degree weather) and walked with her. I was all hot and sticky! Apparently the night exhausted her, though, because she slept from 12:30 am to 8:30 am! 8 straight hours! I, of course, was up every 20 minutes making sure she wasn't a victim of SIDS. This doesn't seem to be her new normal, though, she has returned to her regular schedule since Tuesday.
Thanks for having us over, Aunt Nicole! We had a great time!
I have a problem....
I have a problem....I love dressing the girls alike and taking their pictures. I look forward to it everyday. It had just gotten to the point where dressing them both and keeping them both (reasonably) happy each day wasn't an overwhelming task. Then, we threw potty training into the mix. All I have to say is Boo. I'm sure Sassy Mae would agree.

Charley Two
First Wedding
Juliet attended her first wedding. Daddy's long time friend Jacob got married on Saturday (also our 6th anniversary). It was a beautiful wedding. Juliet was an all-star and Sassy had lots of fun with Auntie Nicole and cousins Barclay and Ethan.
