Leah Loo, Jelly Boo, and Teddy Too

DC - Day 2

This day we hit up the National Museum of American History first. Teddy LOVED the Batmobile. He was SO SAD that he couldn't actually touch it. The girls were thrilled to meet up with their cousins at the museum.

It was so freaking hot in DC. Ice cream was crucial.

So we were pretty close to the White House. We made the girls walk a few blocks out of the way to see it on the way home from the museum. They both complained bitterly the entire time. Then, both Chris and I ended up giving them piggy back rides back to the hotel in 95 degree and HUMID weather. It was so bad that it was funny.

DC- Day 1

For Leah's 10th Birthday, we went to Washington DC. We had so much fun! The first day we did a Duck Tour. It was a fun truck that can drive, then can also go into the water and drive around like a boat.

We all loved this! Teddy was so shocked when it drove right into the water. He just kept babbling in awe. It was so cute!

Both girls got to drive the boat. The driver basically let Juliet drive donuts in the water.

Probably Mostly August 2019

The girls were back at Real Life Farm a few days, loving their little slice of free range childhood. Despite me pretending I would be firm about not bringing home kittens, we OF COURSE, ended up bringing home a kitten most days. They love it.

We did a movie thing at the Colony. All I remember is that it was a lot colder than I expected.

C's boss had his annual "Summer Party". We weren't totally sure what to expect with 3 kids in tow, but it ended up being a ton of fun! Teddy enjoyed the boat rides and playing on the beach, especially. Leah loved looking for shells in the lake.

So this was the funniest story of the summer. Picture this-- it's about 10 AM. We are on summer time, so we've been up for about an hour. The housekeepers are upstairs cleaning, and me and the kids are downstairs watching TV and just being pretty lazy. I had put something outside for front porch pick up that I had sold online. I heard our doorbell alert me that someone was outside picking up their item. Juliet loves to collect the cash after selling things, so she ran out to get the money. She gets the money and life goes on. About 10 minutes later someone knocks on the door. I take a minute to try to look somewhat presentable, and go to the door. No one is there. I sit back down. About 15 minutes later someone rings the doorbell. I look on the "ring" and see that a police officer is standing on my porch. I run out, totally freaked out that someone is dead. She says, "We have a report that your children are running around the neighborhood unsupervised and your dog is loose." I'm like, "WHAT? My kids and my dog are inside". In the meantime, my 2 totally homeless looking girls--full on bedhead wearing old pajamas-- come outside to see what is going on. The police officer is like, "Where's your dog?", I reply, "inside". Then Ollie comes sprinting around the house and both girls start screaming trying to grab him. I'm also trying to grab him with Teddy on my hip, while trying to hide the fact that I'm not wearing a bra. Total chaos. The police officer was like, "WTF is going on?".

Apparently, when Juliet ran out to get the money, she let Ollie out. Someone saw her outside for 20 seconds (looking homeless) with the dog running around, and came to the door, but didn't stay long enough for me to get to the door. So, that person called the police.

Anyway, the police officer laughed and I died of embarrassment.

We spent SO MUCH time at the pool this summer! Juliet is independent in the water, and Teddy just loved the pool!

No time like Quarantine to catch up on the old, neglected blog!

Let's go back in time to July 2019....

The girls love to catch frogs in our window well. We often hear, "There's a frog in the window well!" followed by feet clamoring to find buckets and other "supplies".

And, yes, we know what we actually find are toads. But the girls always call them frogs.

Chris took the girls on a camp out at a local soccer park as part of a "Daddy/Daughter Camp Out" put on by Juliet's Girl Scout Troop. I found the highlight of this event was enjoying a little Rose with the other moms before leaving to sleep in a nice, air-conditioned house. Teddy found the pro's of this event to be the copious amounts of Crazy Bread available and lots of attention from "big girls". The girls enjoyed the face painting and "camping". Chris had fun, too!

Another July highlight was that Leah tried out for, and made the competition dance team at our studio! This year's try-outs were "invitation only", so we weren't sure what to expect. Leah was thrilled to make the team! She dances A LOT now, like 4-5 days a week most weeks. She never complains about going (unlike me - who complains often about ALL the hours....and $$$). I'm glad she's found something that she loves that teaches her life lessons that she wouldn't necessarily learn at this age.

Teddy had his first Slurpee and LOVED it. Pretty sure the girls didn't have anything close to that so early, but 3rd child...

The girls did "Apple Camp" at the mall this summer. I love it because I am NOT tech smart. We've purposely kept our kids as far away from phones, tablets, and laptops as we can. So, I like the idea of them learning a little and having fun at the same time. Teddy and I had fun running around the mall while the girls were in "camp".

Everyone enjoyed the play structure after each camp.

For days, the girls begged to get this crazy liquid nitrogen treat. I said only if they paid for it with their own money. They both coughed up the cash. I think this was the hardest I laughed all summer. The treat itself was pretty gross, but they were so thrilled with it!
