Swimming

Last year Leah couldn't swim at all. All she wanted to do was wear her inter-tube and swim around. She rarely would take it off and practicing swimming with her was like pulling teeth. Towards the end of the summer she showed a lot of improvement, and was moved up 2 levels in swim class. Over the winter, she forgot most of it and became fearful of going back to swim class. This spring, she was up crying the night before her first swim class of the season. After a lot of reassuring, she rejoined swim class. And took off. She is now only 1 level away from the swim team. She can do backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke. She is learning how to do flip turns. She loves to swim down to the bottom of the pool and try to rub her nose on the bottom. And she is able to go down water slides and off diving boards. It is so amazing to see!
 Cannon balls are her favorite!
Juliet has made strides, too. Yesterday she was moved up a level in swim class, too! Leah has moved up 3 times this summer, and Juliet was getting so upset that she hadn't moved up yet. 1 week ago, she had a break though and she was swimming under water like a fish. I couldn't believe it when her instructor showed me! She spent the first 3 months of swim class spending most of her time looking around the pool and making funny poses, and now she is actually swimming. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she doesn't forget it all over the winter like what happened with Leah. Either way, she is further than Leah was at the same age (classic second child), which gives me hope that I soon won't constantly worry about them drowning every time we go to the pool.
