Snow Day! Hooray!

Buddy, our Christmas elf, made a special snow day visit and brought each girl a stuffed elf. Leah and Julietta were *obsessed* with these things at Christmas time. The idea that there was an elf you could actually touch we pretty much the coolest thing ever to them. These things tend to go on pretty good sales after Christmas, and as luck would have it, Buddy must have remembered how much these girls wanted their very own stuffed Buddy. Buddy came down with the snow to deliver it while the girls were sleeping.

Since this was such a well timed snow day, we used our time wisely. We started the morning by watching a movie (something I NEVER let them do). Poor Daddy was outside shoveling snow. Then we made cookies. Then we painted.
Then the girls helped me clean the fish tank. We have one guppy that always jumps out of the pot while we clean his tank. The girls help me by being "Fish Sitters" and telling me when he jumps out. This crazy guppy has jumped out of this pot more times than I can count. He obviously has a death wish. He is so little and delicate that I always think I am going to squish him as I try to pick him back up and put him back into the water. Juliet is really an excellent fish sitter, while Leah tends to lose interest. This time, Leah was determined to excel at fish sitting. Until the fish jumped out of the put and starting flip flopping around by her feet. Leah was screaming and laughing at the same time, and kept backing up. I thought she was going to snap the granite overhang on the island or fall on her head. I couldn't help her get down as I was elbow deep in a nasty fish bowl. I kept telling her to scoot closer, but she kept telling me that she couldn't allow for the fish to touch her foot. We were all laughing pretty hard. The guppy then decided to torture her and would jump out of the water, but stay in the pot. Lots of screaming ensued. Juliet tried to hold him down with her finger.
Then we took baths and put on new jammies. We lit a fire.

I made the girls hot (warm) chocolate with lots of marshmallows. I wonder if Juliet liked it?!

Cheers for well timed snow days!
