Juliet's Newborn Session

These are only some of my favorites!

Two Sick Girlies

Leah got a cold over the weekend. At first, I thought it was just her body's way of dealing with the lack of sleep she received on Friday night. By Monday, I was concerned that it was a real cold, and worried about Juliet getting it. On Monday night/Tuesday morning Juliet woke up to nurse and was sounding "rattle-y". I was so worried about her! I had to hold her upright for the entire night, or she wouldn't/couldn't sleep. She sleeps fine, with out any congestion, when she is sleeping on someone. So, for the past few days she has been held most every minute of the day. Poor thing. I am so thankful it hasn't developed into a more serious cold. I will happily deal with a baby who just needs to be held instead of RSV or something of the like. Sassy's nose has been running like crazy, but she has been in a pretty good mood. Juliet is definitely more needy, but also seems to be improving.

Elmo Towel

Leah was given the choice of any toy in Babies R Us, and she picked this towel.

Memorial Day Weekend-Juliet's Perspective

I slept. I ate. I did some mild fussing. I cuddled Mommy and Daddy. I went in the car. I posed for pictures awake and in my sleep.

Memorial Day-Sassy's Perspective

Well, it didn't get off to a good start. Mommy and Daddy tried something called "Sleep Training". Basically, Mommy refused to lay in bed with me for an hour and a half while I rubbed her arm with my hand and her leg with my foot. Hey, it's how I fall asleep. Also, there have been a lot of changes around this house, and it was how I was coping. Instead, she laid with me for 20 minutes then sat in the chair while I alternated between whining and crying. I kept this up for hours, but she wouldn't get back in bed with me. Daddy did, but that made me glad and mad at the same time. It's complicated. I finally fell asleep, but woke up every 30-45 minutes crying for Momma. Luckily, she came every time. I think I learned my lesson. Now I lay with Mommy until I fall asleep, but I have to do it fast. Otherwise, she goes and sits in that awful chair. I can't have that. So, I go to sleep much faster now.
After that awful night, I was pleasantly surprised with a new pool the next day. I showed off my new "go right to sleep" skills with Momma for nap time, and we got to go to Blockbuster and rent some DVDs. I picked an Elmo's World and The Little Mermaid. It was a much better day.
On Sunday I got to help Mommy and Daddy pick out some new flowers and plant them. Playing with dirt is awesome.
Also, Cooper was over this weekend. I love that dog. I like sneaking up on him and giving him a big "ROOOOAAARRRR" just like Simba in the Lion King. I don't like when he tries to eat my Sesame Street friends though.

I really like my princess pool, but I really like to look at it more than I like to play in it. See Ruggie peeing in the background?

Rainbow Brite Girls

Here is a sample of what I heard as I took these pictures from Sassy: "Mommy, it's touching me!", "Mommy, tell it to stay on it's side!", "Don't touch me!"

Best Friends

Juliet and Anna will be best friends one day. Robin and I will have pictures of their first play-date.
They had a lot of fun swinging together.

Life

Can you find the cupcakes in these sprinkles?

Jelly Belly

We went to the pediatrician today for Juliet's 2 week well visit and she had gained almost a pound! She is up to 7 pounds 9 ounces. She still seems really tiny--almost all of her newborn clothes are still big on her. She has had a few fussy days recently. She is very much like Leah with respect to how she likes to be comforted--preferably nursing, definitely being held. This little chicklit likes to be snuggled close to Mama or Dada.
She makes the funniest faces. She still smiles all the time. She also opens one eye (we call it the wonky eye) when she is waking up. Like Leah, she'll open her eyes sporadically as she sleeps to make sure someone is still near.

Photo Shoot

We had Juliet's newborn pictures taken earlier this week (sneak peek coming in about a week). Juliet did well with her pictures, but Leah was in no mood for pictures. The photographer asked Leah to kiss Juliet, and Leah looked horrified. She was trying to be brave about it, but she kept asking for Daddy or I to "hold you" as she leaned in. I guess that's what happens when you schedule a session during nap time. The next day Leah was less weary, and looking pretty cute, so we did our own pictures. I love them!

Sweet Juliet

This is the first picture of our Jelly Bean with her eyes open. She has been slowing weaning herself from the 24 hour sleep cycle she was on for the first few days. She now has about 2 "awake" periods everyday. During this time she likes to be held, bounced, or fed. She also tries to suck on her fingers. Sassy couldn't even find her fingers until she was several months old. Juliet has already mastered finding her fingers and trying to suck on them. Stinker.
Juliet is such a sweet baby. I missed having a snoozy, cuddly, tiny baby in my arms. Leah is at such a fun stage, too, but there is something so wonderful about newborns. I am already dreading Juliet growing out of this stage. I am seriously trying to sell Chris on 4 kids.

A Dream Come True

Sassy has been asking for blue ice cream for as long as she has been eating ice cream. She finally got to eat some! Daddy and I thought it was absolutely disgusting, but she loved it!
