The "Neighbors" Pool

This week is kind of a challenging week for me. Chris had his usual softball games on Tuesday, meaning he is gone until at least 9 at night. He also has a rehearsal dinner on Thursday and a wedding on Saturday along with some odd errands he needs to run for the wedding. All this means that Daddy is gone A LOT this week, and I am on my own, which isn't always difficult, but can sometimes be very difficult (especially around 8 pm). I feel bad for Sassy on days like these, when I can't even tell her, "wait until Daddy gets home, and we will do something fun!". So, I asked our nanny to come over for a few hours this afternoon. Sassy and I went to the pool. Sassy had SO MUCH fun. I think she really enjoyed the one-on-one time with Mommy. I told Becca we might have to make this a weekly thing.

See that glimmering puddle behind Sassy in the above picture? It is pee. I told her she couldn't pee or poop in the pool, so she nonchalantly got out of the pool and spread her legs. She began peeing, and sticking her hand into the pee and saying, "I feel this! You want to feel this?!" She then got back into the pool and tried to pee again. I told her no, and she got out and finished her pee. She then said, "Accidents happen!" This girlie girl is ready to be potty trained! Sass does better with change when she is well prepared. I told her we were going to see the fireworks at Aunt Nicole's and eat cookies and chips. Then, the next day, she would need to wear underwear all the time, except at night time. Now, if you talk about the fireworks, she'll get really excited and say, "I'll see all colors in the sky and eat chocolate cookies!" Then, if you ask her what will happen the next day, she'll hang her head and mumble, "potty training". Haha.

Posing

After I got Sassy dressed today, she said, "I look great! Let's go take my picture...on the rock....over there....out that door!" She wasn't really into it despite the hard sell. We couldn't recapture the magic of the "Leah" dress session.

Happy Pants

This Much I Know...

I know that at 6 am Juliet will refuse to sleep unless she is on my chest and that at 6 pm she will need to be wrapped to me in the Moby. Refusal to follow protocol will result in loud screaming.

Leah's Life

Leah had a playdate with Jackson. They flooded the sand portion of the sand and water table. Leah kept talking about how her and "Jacks" had fun making a pond. Later she had fun making a snowman. Daddy kept calling it a sandman much to Sassy's annoyance.
Leah's paintings have become really good. I bought a binder so I could save them all. She also gets mad when we recycle the lesser quality works. She will take them out of the recycle bin and say, "but I drew this!"
Over the past week Leah has begun to have silent reading time. Instead of bringing me books, she will read several by herself. She often tries to point to the words as she reads. She reads very quietly, almost under her breath. She gets mad if you ask her to read to you or read louder. This is how she used to be about singing. Now if Daddy or I dare try to sing a song or even sing along to a song on the radio she'll get really angry and tell us, "just listen!". She, however, is allowed to sing whenever and wherever. If you dare try to sing along, she'll loudly assert, "just let me do it by myself!"

ABC's with Me!

I was cleaning up the house, and walked into the living room and saw the cutest sight: Leah singing to Juliet and Juliet just gazing at her with total and complete adoration. Of course, by the time I got the camera, Juliet became distracted by the mobile on her swing. Still, about halfway through, you can see Jelly Belly turn to Leah and give her loving looks. I like how I ask Leah to kiss Juliet and she nonchalantly acts like I told her to sing again. Leah loves Juliet, but is still reluctant to get too close to her. I think she will really love Juliet when she can carry her around like she does with Brain. Sisterly love.

Happiest Girl on the Block

When Juliet is happy, she is REALLY happy. It's now rare that I can't make her smile. She has periods throughout the day where she really enjoys being talked to. She seems to have gotten less fussy in the daytime, which is a welcome relief. She still has her fussy period in the evening. She likes/needs to be held, so as long as you are obliging, she is a happy duckling. Just don't try to trick her into going to sleep and then trying to put her down. She will wake up mad!

Sassy Cheering

Leah was really excited about the Men's Diving Trials for the Olympics. Sassy is totally her mother's daughter. The Olympics are awesome! Too bad the quality of the video is so dark.

I get really excited for the Olympics. Chris *acts* like it's not an event to eagerly anticipate, but I think it's a front. I bought the girls matching London shirts. We can't wait for the festivities to begin!

Smiley Girl

Juliet may be a little (okay, VERY) needy, but she is so darn cute! She just smiles and smiles when you talk to her. Just don't try to put her down. The smiles will stop and the attitude will come out.

First Pool Trip

Sassy was excited to go to the "neighbors pool" aka neighborhood pool with Daddy. I was sad to miss out on the first pool trip of the year.  Juliet and I stayed home and cuddled. Leah and Daddy had a great time swimming!

Rainbow

There was a lovely rainbow earlier this week. Sassy loved it! She kept saying, "see that beautiful rainbow?" When she was going to sleep that night she said, "I had never seen a rainbow before!" This was not true, but that's okay.

Jelly Belly Talking

Jelly Bean began "talking" this week. When she is in the mood, she'll engage in a lively conversation with you. She wasn't really in the mood when I took the video, but it was the closest I could get. Big sissy Leah likes to dominate the video camera. She likes to turn around the screen to face her, and make silly faces into it. Then, she'll open up her mouth really wide and have the camera record her tonsils. I got this video of Juliet when Sassy and Daddy were at the pool. Shhh....don't tell!
